Sept 12, 2004:
Looking through a previous gallery will show that this summer I've shared my balcony with a family of Mourning Doves.  Their first brood hatched and was gone by the beginning of June, and though I've seen them poking around since then, I finally just accepted they weren't going to nest again.

Shows what I know.  On August 21st, to my glee the doves returned and started a second clutch of eggs.  The first egg was laid the night of Saturday the 22nd, and the second egg was laid the next night.  And today when I went out to water my plants and peaked into the nest, a cute li'l dove chick was peaking back at me.  At least one of the eggs has now hatched, and you guessed it, I got pictures.  There aren't many there yet, but I hope to take more once I get the chance to see both little babies.

I leave for my second trip to Poland in two days, and so I decided I should get one last set of pictures of the birds in case they're not there when I get back in seven days.  It didn't work out as planned.  See page two of this gallery for the story.
